Site Overview

Flat field, near River Derwent, Steam Rail, Matlock, Bakewell and Chatsworth

This is a very popular location for visitor the white peak area. This site is a perfect holiday location for all ages. The site backs onto a steam rail line (https://www.peakrail.co.uk) and on the other side of the railway is a beautiful park (https://www.tripadvisor.co.uk/Attraction_Review-g499578-d3953192-Reviews-Whitworth_Park-Darley_Dale_Matlock_Derbyshire_England.html) that boasts ponds, children's play area, lovely cafe serving food all day.

Great pubs are assessable in either direction from the site. For a larger pub that serves food and drink, with entertainment at most weekends, Barringtons (https://www.barringtonspub.co.uk) is 10min walk. For a smaller pub that backs onto the river, we recommend the Square and Compass (https://www.robinsonsbrewery.com/pubs/square-compass-darley-dale/) or the Church Inn.

At the cross roads near the entrance to the site is a cycle track that goes directly to Matlock. To cycle in the other direction towards Rowsley, there is a cycle path that runs parallel to the railway line that can be assessed from Darley Dale railway station.

Nearby is Rowsley village which has a lovely pub that serves food and drink (https://www.grouseclaretpub.co.uk/), you may need to book to get a space for Sunday lunch. Also in Rowsley is a car boot that usually runs on a Sunday morning at the sports field. Always a mix of new and second hand goods (https://www.peakdistrictonline.co.uk/peak-district-car-boot-sales/).

If you like Indian cuisine, you're in luck because the award winning Shalimar restaurant is very close and also offers a takeaway service (http://www.theshalimar.co.uk/). Darley Dale also boasts Chinese and chip shop takeaway food as well as a few village stores.

This is an ideal location to use as a base for Chatsworth House and Gardens, Matlock, Bakewell.

For children, Matlock Park Farm is a short drive away (https://www.peakdistrictonline.co.uk/peak-district-car-boot-sales/) along with Little Monkey's indoor play centre (https://www.little-monkeys.co.uk/).
